Are you ready to shake your hips for charity?
Last week I attended the ‘launch party’ for the Zumba fitness’ global charity initiative – The Great Calorie Drive. Held at Pacha in London a party it was, fitness party that is!
With the sultry Italian Zumba rep and two other feisty Zumba education specialists leading the class, it was a fun, spirited and sexy 1h30 minutes of shimmying and shaking to Latin house beats! Joining in all this sweaty fun was Louis Smith MBE (Olympic gymnast and silver medallist) and Jade Ewen (singer and overall sexy girl), both being ambassadors of the charity drive.
So what is it all about?
By shimmying and shaking at Zumba classes between April-June, your calories can be ‘donated’ to the World Food Programme, and these ‘calories’ are converted into actual meals – with the aim of reaching 3.5 million meals to help hunger-relief worldwide.
While we try to burn calories, 1 in 8 people goes hungry around the world, so ‘Don’t just burn calories, Donate them!’
How to get involved?
1). Download the Zumba fitness app (it is free).
2). Find your nearest Zumba class on the app, head on down there, and check-in on the app.
3). Burn your calories while shaking it like you’re at Rio carnival!
4). Your calories will be donated to the United Nations Word Food Programme (WFP), converting them into actual meals.
Exercise, fun, and charity all rolled into one!
