Tip of the Day: Contracting

Some people find contracting a useful tool to use to keep them committed to their goals. I find that it has positive results in 50% of clients, so the jury is out on this one. But why not give it a go? It can’t hurt!

Example:
I, [insert name], hereby committ to [insert goal]. I will [insert action plan and all mini goals].
I realise that this contract is solely with myself and that it carries no rewards, penalties or punishments other than those associated with the reflection of the strength of my character.

Make it meaningful, and be as detailed and as personal as possible in the contract. List all the things you will do to achieve your goal, all the things you won’t do, and all the steps you need to take to do it. You know yourself best, so you know your weaknesses and strengths : )
