Inspirational Woman of the Day: Mara Galeazzi

Mara is a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet. Elite ballerinas spend years of their life training for their opportunity on the stage, and once they get it, they spend hours of their day rehearsing for it! Their schedule includes training 6 days a week from 10am to 10pm if they have a show in the evening. So taking good care of themselves is a priority! Mara says: ‘The level of my career has been dictated by my fitness’, so getting enough rest and sleep are important to prevent injuries, as well as eating healthily. But, you don’t have to be an extremely talented and graceful professional dancer to enjoy ballet or dance – it’s quite a lot of fun even if you’ve never done it before or aren’t really that good : ) ‘Every artist was first an amateur’ (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

Goal of the Day:

Have an ACTIVE day. Try and be as active as possible today: take the stairs, not the lift; cycle/walk to work; do exercise in your lunch break; dance around while cooking dinner; go to the park and kick a ball around with your kids; do squats while brushing your teeth. Do anything so long as you’re active!
